yeah, having problems downloading all smods at the moment. I agree with seth, listening to stoned conversations can be funny but kev try not to do it EVERY SMOD as they become less funny. but i love smod so please dont take offence.

Like Seth and sclub, I’ve also noticed the past few smods have been getting a bit dull with Kevin high all the time. Kevin, I know you’re new to getting high on a regular basis and you think it’s great and all, but it does have side affects, one of which is thinking that some things are funny when they actually aren’t. Smoking weed is fine every once in a while, but when you do it all the time, it does take a toll in a number of ways. One way is general sharpness of mind. Your most endearing qualities, and why most people are such big fans of yours, is your wit and your skill at telling stories in such a comedic way. Weed can definitely dull these traits if you keep smoking. I’m not saying that your not funny anymore and that your stories suck, but people are noticing the difference in the smods since you started smoking regularly, and I think the consensus so far is that they are getting gradually worse. Hopefully you will see this and think about it, at least a little.

at first i had trouble getting the smodcast this week, but it eventually worked. mine downloads super slow every week, but other than that, it was ok.

they should have just recorded the actual ichat…! i have been jonesing for the smod to be a video anyway. :))

Sebastien, I think what you’re hearing is the show (and Kevin) maturing and relaxing into a consistent rhythm. That’s what happens after two years of doing a show, and it doesn’t mean the shows now are any less inspired at all than they were last year.

I’m not sure what your hangup on weed is, but I’m not a smoker, and I can tell you for certain that whether he’s smoking before the show or not, it wouldn’t make much of the kind of difference you’re looking for.

Nothing personal, man, but maybe it’s you who’s getting burned out on Smod, ’cause I’m not feeling that from Kevin.

smodfan47, we have no issues with weed. i can only imagine the people leaving these comments have been stoned at least once before. We are not getting sick of smodcast but what we are saying that kevin needing weed to tell a good story? no way…..everyone has a right to do what they want we just want to point it out to him in a polite way. if you listen to smod 73 and then go back and listen to smod 34, trust me the difference is there. kev keep up the good work, would you believe zack and miri gets cinematic release at end of feb in australia but will already be on dvd in us. would you financially be better off if i saw it at the movies or just bought it.

I think it is rather obvious that Kevin is high before recording, and it is definately showing in the quality of the smodcasts. They haven’t been quite right since Zack n Miri diddnt do so well.

It is rather odd that Kevin got so upset over Jason Mews drug habbits, but now doesnt seem bothered about his own. Now obviously Jay was on much worse than just weed, but Kevin said in an earlier smod that he only smoked weed once or twice a year, and its clear now he is doing it much more than that. And yes, I would say that its firstly irresponsible parenting, and secondly damaging to an obviously very sharp and talented mind.

Hmmm, after noticing some guy named Jason trying to be taken seriously by effectively yelling as loud as he can to get attention, I decided to look at my own post and see what exactly about it was trashing on kevin. So here we go, and do try and keep up Jason? We can’t all go full retard mode okay?

I think its mostly just the fact that the “blunted” smods have been lackluster compared to previous smods, not so much worry about Kevin’s well being. Even though it seems maybe a little “bitchy” to be complaining about a free podcast, its entertainment nonetheless, and when something that was so entertaining before has become less so, I think people have some right to express their displeasure. Some are getting a little too up in arms, but others, like myself, are just expressing our wishes to a return to glory. Entertainment is entertainment, free or costly. And I dont know a whole lot of folks who prefer being only moderately entertained.

I have no problem with people smoking a bowl, but at what point did it become cool to verbaly assualt people of a different opinion to you? If people think that SMod has taken a down curve, why shouldn’t they be allowed to say so? If they think this is due to Kevin smoking some weed, why shouldn’t they be allowed to present this hypothosis? All that happens is people who smoke a lot of dope start getting way too defensive; almost as if they have something to be ashamed off. It’s you people who are making this more than it should be.

I still laugh my ass off at SMod, but know that it was better before mr. Smith was huffing every other second. He was quicker and funnier and less prone to giggle fits over things that didn’t deserve more than a chuckle.

But please, if anyone reading this can get an idea through to the great one: no matter what, keep on SModding! We love ya!

Jesus! I make one comment and disappear for a few days, and look what I come back to.

My point was that I feel like I can attribute the difference between recent Smods and the “Smods of Olde” to Kev just getting used to it.

I don’t know if you guys noticed, but a lot of the early Smods revolved around stand-up stories he’d already polished on stage doing his Q&A tours. “Meat-curtains” comes to mind specifically.

I don’t mean to soap-box, but I’ve been producing audio for a good 10 years or so, and save for a couple particularly high episodes, Smod would be the same now even if Kev didn’t start smoking again.

I don’t care how you feel about weed, but you can’t expect the show to be the same after two years, and I — for one — am grateful to Kev, Mos, Ken, and everybody else involved.

I know it’s early (a couple weeks), but cheers fellas. Here’s hoping we get two more years!

Just wanted to say, I’ve really enjoyed the smodcasts since they started, and I’ve listened to them all. But I am in agreement with those that say the weed is hurting the quality of them lately. And for the time being, I am pretty much done with them.

I don’t have any problem with weed, Kevin can smoke up as much as he wants when he’s not working, but why do the smodcasts high? A lot of the time now it just sounds like he’s falling asleep, slurring his speech and trying to think of things to say randomly. He’s still funny at times, but it’s too annoying to listen to for me anymore.

ok everyone who talks about Kevin smoking. At the Hartford Q+A he said he was coming out of his weed shell so his depression is getting better and we as fans can’t fucking BITCH about “he’s always high Smodcast sucks!” or “It’s going in the shitter” cause I for one enjoy the guest SModcasts cause every guest adds something. Walt adds Jersey memories and tales from the Stash (like the guy with the gloves who looked through the adult comics), Brian adds memories from their youth and him and Kev are really really good friends. Malcolm adds outrageous statements that we all love. Jen and Kevin… I mean everyone asks for one of those. So people really need to stop bitching because Kevin smokes pot and Mosier is away you all sound like 5 year olds. plus… if you were all that upset than you wouldn’t download the fucking new smod in the first place!! thanks
