I’m Ken Plume, and soon you’ll be listening to “A Bit Of A Chat” with me, Ken Plume.
In this episode, I’m having a bit of a chat with comedian, actor, and musician Tim Minchin.
Like chocolate and peanut butter, he’s one of those rare breed of stand-ups that have hit upon the sweet combination of comedy and music, and over the last few years he’s brought his nouveau-cabaret act to audiences that have explosively grown in size and loyalty in both Britain and his native Australia.
He’s set his sights on the US next, so be the first on your block to be hip to a wonderful performer I can best describe as combining equal parts theatricality, musicianship, and glorious bombast. Minchin is the Meat Loaf of comedy.
I’d recommend you head over to his official website, www.TimMinchin.com, and do your best to acquire his recent live DVD, So Fucking Rock – and his new album, Ready For This? – Live at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London.
Here now is my chat with Tim Minchin… Hope you enjoy…

Thanks for loading this lovely interview on Twitter – I was cooking for a dinner party and listening at the same time, which kept me sane! I love your laidback interviewing style and that you don’t have a list of ‘set questions’ which allows the interview to meander along it’s own’ course, unlike so many of our televised and usually rushed chat shows over here. I shall be listening to more of you! Hope Tim does get to the States at some point so that you can all enjoy him live again – he is something else – just so long as he comes home again!!
thanks Ken, Vicky

As a big fan of both Tim Minchin and Ken Plume I’m psyched to see the two have come together. Like a Reese’s Pluminchinbutter Cup.

Weird, I totally wrote that before reading your chocolate, peanut butter reference in the intro.

I had a chance to see Tim live when he came to the Acme Comedy Theatre in Hollywood. He was wonderful, and I got a few of his songs in my head for *months*.
Congrats on the interview.

This is a lovely interview, most notable for informing me that Chocolate and Peanut butter have hit upon the sweet combination of Comedy and Music.
Are Reese’s Pieces hilarious? They are now.
