I approve of this choice of topic.
![]() Also, squeaking this under the wire since the forum topic does include the phrase "share your music with others:" http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...s-geek-girl-ep Songs about female geek fandom characters WHOM YOU MAY RECOGNIZE. I'll just leave that there, and then the rest of you can make fun of me for posting it.

Yes!
A new song for this prompt is here: http://guildofscientifictroubadours....ts-from-earth/ "Hi There! (We're Robots From Earth)" is sort of specifically about Curiosity... and what comes after. I'd already written a lonelier song that sort of fits Ken's iteration of the prompt better - it was about Phoenix, its batteries dying, observing the first precipitation ever seen on Mars. If you're curious, that song is "Now the Snow" and I think it turned out better than most of my songs do. ---- Thank you, Ken and Blue. And good luck getting your giant robot in a real studio, Blue! |

In 'now the snow' that 'sonar pulse' is really quite haunting. I love the way it never changes pitch.

Song: http://soundcloud.com/jmaq2/my-curiosity
MP3: http://soundcloud.com/jmaq2/my-curiosity/download I have worked in robot music before. My only "published" work was a Robot Christmas album that I self-uploaded to Amazon*. Even as such, this song turned out very flat and depressing. My intentions to make it a robot I Will Survive about finding happiness without the touch of humanity never saw fruition. It spiraled down the rabbit hole of sad robot emotions. I suppose by the end it has become happier, or at least no longer sad, but the journey is tinged with sorrow. Oops. A strong warning to adjust your volume before listening; This song is painfully loud next to my other songs, a problem I'll have to solve for the finished album, but one I'm willing to accept for now. *Since we're self-promoting in this thread, I'll provide links to this out-of-season masterpiece. Feel free to bookmark it for your future holiday mixtape needs! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...6121042&sr=8-2 http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...eature=mh_lolz |

Is poetry considered "music"? Because my poetry book Kickstarter is turning out to be a huge failure. Great Job Nicole. I'm so happy when I see an independent artist succeed. Congratulations. I need to get a move on with this months prompt. falling behind. D.L |

There's a bustle in my hedgerow? I won't be alarmed!
I think poetry counts as music - especially when it comes in an audio form, of course. |

Hey, Lightman! You're Antipodean, ain'tcha? What city are you in? I know some fairly successful Melburnian poets... they may have advice.
==== and JMaq... what are you using for robot ballad voice? I'm using CrapTalker (the same machine they used for "Giant Isopods Have Stolen My Gameboy," a truly haunting song). Last edited by grantimatter : 09-04-2012 at 10:38 PM. Reason: giant robot isopod voices |

I asked about poetry because I have put together a book that I am super proud of. Unfortunately I'm trying to Kickstarter it and it isn't doing so well. I have had a bit of trouble getting the word out. Only 2 days left and it's not looking good. Maybe I'll be able to harness this sadness and use it to fuel another book of poetry no one will see. lolz. half kidding...D.L |

I'm just not sure I'll find the time to put together something for this prompt. Really sucks too because I have a great set of lyrics this time... D.L

My entry for this month's prompt! I finally got some decent equipment so my stuff doesn't sound like it was recorded with a 90s tape machine!
Apologies for the vocals, still waiting for a potential singer to sort themselves out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvJNS...ature=youtu.be |

well gang, the best I can do is post my lyrics. feel free to make it into something. I have little time right now. David.
CC BY SA THE SPACE BETWEEN midnight, on the dark side, here it comes again. darkness all alone. where do you go, who do you, NO!!!!!!!! curiosity, curiosity, curiosity running wild. you've left me here with nothing but the time wondering where, wondering WHY??????? curiosity, curiosity, curiosity runs wild. and the morning comes and the sun rises once again and you return to me you return to me you return to me you return to me you return to me but late at night when the darkness comes I can feel the space between us |

Okay. A robot a long, long way away. Since my last song turned out to be about landing on Mars I decided to go more intimate this time. I found myself playing with the idea of a Roomba that has met with an accident and no matter how hard he tries he can't bridge the distance.
I really wanted it to sound EPIC. So I played around with orchestra strings and horns and I think I managed to get halfway to how awesome it sounded in my head. Hope you like it. Inhale the Sky |

Song done ON TIME!
It's called Martians and Rovers, and if you are familiar with Hello, The Future!'s previous albums, you'll recognize the tune.
