That is so backwards ass I cant even begin to describe my feelings on the matter. #1 “critically acclaimed and making a good amount of money” means shit to me. So was Titanic, and it was 2 hours of a boat sinking, when the ship actually went down though I have to say it did look awesome…lol. #2 I get what you’re saying about movies like transformers vs. movies like paranormal express, i do. But it’s just my personal opinion that emerging Film-makers should make something worth watching…not the exploitation of well placed sound effects and cheap tricks to get a rise of out of peoples fears. Theres plenty of examples of independent films that are worth watching for substance not cheap thrills.

It’s fine if people don’t like the film, but to call the people who consider what critics have to say about film “weak-minded” is simply ludicrous. Unless one is a critic or long-time film fan, the idea that anyone would disregard someone’s professional opinion (someone who likely knows a lot more about what makes a film work) is faulty logic. The fact that this film is both critically acclaimed and making a good amount of money should be enough for people to check it out, but doesn’t guarantee a positive reaction for all.

BTW, it’s at 85% now with a 93-17 Fresh to Rotten ratio.
The only reason I started talking about the RT reviews is because Cohen stated some number that are currently incorrect. Yes, he’s correct in that people who didn’t like the film agree with his points, but the people who like the film disagrre with him about his points.

I understand that Cohen and I don’t share film tastes, so it’s necessary for differing opinions to be shared.

PPS: the only people who really go submit a “Fresh” review are the for mentioned “Weak minded”. it doesn’t surprise me at all that it had a 87-14 ratio considering that most people that hated it, tried to forget it just as quickly as they let it waste the 99 min. of their time in the first place.

I completely agree with MR. Cohen, actually, Paranormal Express is the worst thing to happen to film since the “SAW” franchise, which I equally despise. Not because I generally dislike the Horror genre…but simply because it’s a mockery of what a film can be without a $20 mil. Budget. Case in point “Clerks” OBVIOUSLY, one of the many prime examples of what a film-maker can do based on dialog, and not exploiting the fears of weak minded people. and PS: it’s not even scary…FAIL PARANORMAL EXPRESS, FAIL!
