How would you like a bit of a teaser glimpse of the wonders Terry Gilliam has planned for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus?
Below, you’ll find a very special message from Terry, as well as a look at some of the production designs and artwork for the film. Currently in post-production, Parnassus should be arriving at a theater near you sometime in 2009. Until then, though, we share this little peek behind the scenes.

I’m so there. Gilliam needs a good bounceback picture after TIDELAND, but I’m a huge fan of most of the others (even BROTHERS GRIMM, horrendously underrated) and this looks lovely. Evocative of TIME BANDITS above all else, still my all-time favorite Gilliam film. Bring it!

Yay! Looking forward to this!
(one of the people who actually enjoyed Tideland)

The real trick is going to be getting Heath Ledger in it.

What is “Beyond Imagination” and why do I hear it mentioned in every third trailer I see?

I loved Tideland. In fact, the only Gilliam film I have not seen is Fear and Loathing… but that is because I have no respect for Hunter S. Thompson, not because I don’t like Gilliam. And this one looks amazing. Can’t wait.
September 14th, 2008 at 4:25 am
I want to see more images of the movie. It looks really interesting and full of the Gilliams universe. Hope that there will be a trailer soon.
September 14th, 2008 at 8:52 am

TIDELAND was the best film ever from Gilliam. the perfect mixture of imagination and madness with a mature and sensible point of view. I’m excited about the new movie… let’s see! I hope he will continue with films for adults.

Heath Ledger returns from the grave! What is this witchcraft?!?!?!
September 14th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Heath had already shot parts of it they brought it Depp, Jude, and Colin to finish the movie…. looks likes its gonna be another awesome movie from Terry

Doctor Parnassus looks reallly fun. Incidentally, (just to join the conversation) I loved Tideland – i.e., I own it, and I don’t see the need to own many movies – but naturally it wasn’t for everyone. If Doctor Parnassus joins the ranks of Time Bandits and Munchausen, well and good! Very happy to see Mr. Gilliam stretch his wings in any direction he cares to take us.

Is Hollywood now ordering DMCA takedowns of their own advertising too? What marketing genius thought up this new “Don’t you dare share our advertising” campaign?

It bothers me when models try to become actresses (Lily Cole).
Other than that, the score sounds effin’ awesome…

This looks amazing, but it will be kinda weird
for me to watch it knowing that the man playing
one of the characters has already died…

Looking forward to release. Wonderful imagination Terry, and fantastic responses from Johnny, Colin and Jude to ensure Heaths final work is finished and released with proceeds to Matilda, Thankyou for reminding us of the goodness sometimes found in life, Cx

I am looking forwarded in this movie coming out this year. After seeing this little teaser, it looks like this will become my favourite flick of all times. This will be the first time I have seen a Terry Gilliam’s Art before. I will now look to find his other work. I am excited about how the 4 actors will make 1 character after the sad loss of Heath Ledger. All the Very Best For the Success Of this Film.
Please don’t let us all here Down Under have to wait too long for the release of this Film.

Re: the score for the trailer – that’s not from the Parnassus movie. It’s been taken from “Brazil”, “Edward Scissorhands” and others. It’s quite common for movie trailers to be edited to music from other movies as their own scores usually appear late in post-production.

Ohhh my, Heath, Posting love remarks for you online on some blog will win points with you for me in heaving. I hope you’re still waiting…… Oh GOD YOU’RE AMAZING…….

I really dig Terry’s quickie comps more than anything. They remind me of the Python animations. If someone can get the message to Terry Gilliam for me: Please consider making a full length stop motion movie. I always thought you should do Don Quixote as an animation. If it’s not too late into production on this one, it might be a great opportunity to combine live actors with old school Monty Python animation. Working with Maya instead of stop motion cameras.
Love your movies. I own many of them on video & DVD.
Love your animations. Hope you get a chance to make some more.
