He slipped. And he proceeded to dive too early. Besides, the pitch wasn’t water logged then. When JT took the shot, it might as well have been mud with grass on top. The only thing that kept Van Der Sar from blocking the shot was Lampard and himself. On top of that, when Lamps took the ball, it was from the back of that Manchester mannequin that was facing in the opposite direction of the action.

Manchester had about 3 decent attempts after the early goal, and they were all expertly deflected. Meanwhile, Chelsea owned the game after the equalizer. Man U may have had a better passing game, but Chelsea was doing things with the ball. Off the woodwork, inches to the right…it was CFCs to win. Only after the extra time began did things start to even out. That bog of a playing field was surely Manchester’s best friend. It certainly wasn’t Rooney, Tevez, or a certain penalty-blocked woman (best part of the match!) that shall remain nameless and scrupleless.

The reason for sacking Grant is still a foolish one. As Grant himself said, he did it his way. And his way was strong in its own right. It was some tricky managing that kept them on target and he should have been given credit instead of shat on because he’s not Jose (who, might I add, was also often shat on).

Pitch was Man United best player? May I remind you that it was the failure of the pitch that allowed lampard to score against united? The pitch crumbled under Eddie’s feet, it was as clear as day. Without that terrible pitch, I doubt Chelsea would have been able to put anything in the net bar that night.

Grant was sacked because Jose built up such a big reputation for the club. After Jose, the expectations for the club are so huge that failing to win any silverware is most certainly a reason for a sacking.

Also, great show guys.

Reese’s Pieces are delicious.

By the way, that story about the kids and hookers playing Halo was fake. It was a marketing ploy of somesort… made me sad.

Both teams were too evenly matched. I don’t think it’s truly settled until they meet again in the BPL. The sloppy pitch was Manchester’s best player that night, for sure. What with coming out under J.T.’s foot like that. Otherwise, it was in the bag for Chelsea at that moment.

As for Grant…well, I think the only mistake he made that night was putting in Nico for Joe. Joe was on point all night. He should have put Nico in for Drogba, because Didier was clearly not in the right mindset.

I think it’s rather foolish to have sacked Grant. He did a fine job. Some say the talent was already there, but so was Jose and they were still losing. Then Avram Grant came in, things fell into place, and their journey to top of the league was underway. I mean, with all of the injuries and the African call-ups…and they still took it to the last day of the Premiership and the Champions final? Bravo, I say.
